Students at Tisch School of the Arts have performed an interesting social experiment that cleaves closely to her school’s mission statement, which is to “bring delight and art into people’s lives.” She made a couple little robots which have no powers other than looking cute and rolling straight forward.

Reading about robots that mimic humans is sometimes pretty scary. If the ReadyBot Dishwasher and Justin the Coffeemaker gave me the creeps, how much more will the iCub Baby Robot do to me? The robot’s head reminds me of Casper, the Friendly Ghost. But I am not sure if this one can be friendly once it learns how to think and talk. Researchers at the University of Plymouth are currently working on this project that is said to help them discover how language is taught. Read more

Well, in an era where fighting wars has becoming so common that it doesn’t even make front page news anymore, it is hardly something to worry about when robot manufacturers think they can use the technology to make robots that can fight wars.
